Lars Hollmotz<br \/><\/strong>Strategic Support Dienstleistungs UG, Potsdam<\/p>\n<p>Lars Hollmotz has been working on automotive safety for about 15 years and on electrical energy storage systems and lithium-ion batteries in particular for about 10 years. He studied mechanical engineering\/transportation with a specialisation in automotive engineering. In 2003, he began his career at a restraint system supplier as a calculation engineer; later he worked there as a project manager for restraint system projects for international OEMs. From 2008 onwards, he worked for a management consultancy in the fields of project management, process management and general safety topics (including vehicle safety, safety of electrical energy storage systems, transport safety of hazardous goods, occupational health and safety, functional safety, safety in use), especially in the field of alternative drive systems. In 2013, he founded his own consulting company and continues to work for international OEMs and suppliers on safety-related topics.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he regularly gives lectures, works as a trainer on the topics of safety, shipping and transport of lithium and lithium-ion batteries and conducts seminars on these topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dipl.-Ing. Alfred R. Jeckel<br \/><\/strong>Mercedes-Benz AG, Sindelfingen<\/p>\n<p>Alfred Jeckel has been working in passenger car development at Mercedes for many years. After starting and working in the development of HVAC systems and engine cooling systems, he has been involved in the development and integration of Li-ion drive batteries for vehicles for about ten years. This technology carries risks and dangers that can be reduced with proper preparation and responsible handling.<\/p>\n<p>The possible consequences in the event of a fault (e.g. due to internal \/ external short circuit, thermal runway) include fire and smoke as well as the escape of chemical substances.
