Abstract
The final step in validating the mechanical design features of a large-format prismatic battery cell is completing the cell finishing process and thoroughly testing its performance in terms of efficiency, capacity retention, power capability, and lifespan. For this purpose, cells with unique mechanical design features were assembled, finished and tested within the FoFeBat2 project.
This poster outlines the process steps for the cell finishing with special focus on formation and testing of large-format prismatic lithium-ion battery cells. The objective is to provide a guideline for the process parameters and necessary analyses to evaluate the mechanical design features of large-format battery cells. The detailed process sequence, including key parameters for each step, is presented. Subsequently, the testing results are analyzed, focusing on the cells‘ OCV, capacity, DCIR, thermal, and impedance behavior. Key insights for future cell finishing processes and mechanical design improvements are summarized as a foundation for further design and process optimization.
